What are T2 shares?

When you buy or sell shares, the T2 settlement rule means that the transaction will be officially completed, or "settled", two business days after the trade date. This two-day period allows for the transfer of securities and cash between the buyer's and seller's accounts. The "T" stands for the transaction date, and the number indicates how many business days after this date the settlement occurs. This standard is part of the financial industry's efforts to streamline and secure the trading process, ensuring that all parties receive what they were promised from the transaction.
